Hi , i'm an architecture student ,getting my BA this year and planing on doing the MArch at ASU design school. what are the chances of acceptance, i mean is it hard to get into? how important is the GPA in the overall decision? thanks
I would worry about your portfolio the most. Unless your GPA is scary low... with a stellar portfolio you are In Like Flint! I believe they have increased their enrollment which I am not a fan off, making it a easy program to get into. When I went through the program it was extremely competitive to get into. Times have changed. Good program though.
Thanks a lot, i still don't have the portfolio finished but will pay special attention. i was asking about the GPA because it says in the application info that u can't apply if your GPA is lower than 8.5 , and mine is , but i'm studying in Europe right now and the education system here is different so i guess it won't be a problem. What year did u enroll in? And what was/ is a good portfolio in american standards? i'm a bit lost

Grade points are not very important in American architecture schools at all. Most of those "minimum average to apply" rules are part of the larger university's general regulations and smaller, unique programs like architecture, art, music etc often disregard it (although they might politely use it as an excuse if you are rejected). Your portfolio is much more important.
But to be honest, I can't imagine many schools turning away a foreigner if you've got the cash to pay tuition. American education is such a money scam that, if you got the balls to try it, you could probably submit a portfolio of projects that feature piles of literal shit (with the typical photoshopping, of course...happy folks walking dog, prada model, dramatic lens flare, etc) and still get accepted.
a favorite trick of some schools is to accept students, but then require them to take an additional class or two, claiming the existing degree doesn't quite match their program
ASU loves international students! I know a good portfolio is subjective... however post it on here for us to take a look and you will get plenty of feedback from here!
i'm basically 10% ready with the portfolio, still collecting material to put in it and i have a really hard time making it look as good as the examples i saw. anyways, i will post it when it's ready...thanks for all the help :)
ASU March hard to get into?
