and what does close contact with the admissions people mean? As in you werent calling them pestering them? I dont think Ive called an office ever, does that improve my chances? And wasnt it stern doing the calling anyways?
yales done with. move one. just be happy you dont have to go to school in new haven, ct
This levels are in high school, primary school, etc... and also we have low levels in research so... I will take advantage of that and get my master paid.
The Harvard/Yale admissions are suspicious. I've heard that very few people are admitted to both programs. Maybe they are intentionally avoiding accepting the same people...maybe they have a secret meeting!
Point is, don't give up if you were rejected from Yale! There's hope!
does anyone know if the GSD calls everyone at once, or if they drag this out for a week?
Is Harvard calling for MArch I or II?
Congrats to everyone, its an exciting time! And, of course, an aggravating time for those of us still in the dark.
I find it odd only one person we know of got the Harvard call, as last year the forum had several people posting at about the same time after the phone call. This whole process is so strange, not worth trying to figure out.
Asbuckeye- Don't fret. It isn't uncommon for these schools to both call and/or send notification via postal mail, or even email. I don't think they contacted everyone today. I did not apply to Yale, but thats my gut feeling. Even if you don't make it, theres still two more to hear from. And its just school! Its easy to forget that, I know.
all you have to do is what your avatar tell's ya...
thanks for the encouragement there thenew. Seriously though, not too torn up about not being accepted. Just, like most around here im sure, want to know. I hate not knowing where the next 3 years of my life are going to be. grr
Asbuck, chopsky and everyone who hasn't recieved letters yet, I'm in the same boat as you guys... Haven't heard a word yet myself.
Looking at thegradcafe.com it seems like last year the GSD sent out letters over a two week period starting at about this time last March (if the info there is correct). Awyway, I'm trying to keep my expectations low about my chances of getting accepted there. It's a longshot... but worth the try. I'm thinking more about my other schools now.
OK, I'm now 1 for 8, and that was...kinda...my theoretical safety.
Three of the remaining seven schools have started if not finished sending out their acceptances and I'm finding it hard to believe that all of them for whatever reason just haven't gotten around to informing me yet.
I've already warned my friends about the bender I will be going on in a couple of weeks. They will be working in shifts to keep me from drunk-dialing admissions offices.
i thought gsd phoned? yale phoned me. (btw, tanner i was totally floored and couldn't believe they took me) anyone know the medium of acceptance/rejections at each school? feel free to post if you have any info. s.
I'd wait a while longer before trying to contact the schools - unless they specifically said they were going to notify you earlier. I haven't heard anything from my schools yet either.
How are people recieving the packets? Is it in mail or delivered by Fedex or UPS? If it is, do you have to be there at the time of delivery to sign?
Do they notify you by a second means? I'm afraid somehow the mail might get mixed up. I know I'm being real paranoid but it seems to happen sometimes in my neighborhood.
hey bravo, I second cou2's thoughts. dont contact yet. Im in the same boat... no word on any schools. Do some research on past posts and see if people have heard anything from the schools you're applying to. If they have then count that school as a 80% rejection (20% barring unforeseen circumstances). Thats how im looking at it, not morbid, just realistic. Goodluck!
Congrats to all. Now I wish I would have applied to some ivies. Anybody who got into the University of Washington get any financial info, nothing came with my acceptance letter?
cou2, I understand that nervous feeling. Remember though, If it is ups/fedex and you're not there then they typically leave a slip telling you to come pickup or they'll try again at some other time. They dont leave you in the dark. Also, if its an acceptance, they'll call/email you (in which case you'll find out), and if its a rejection Id think they'd send a standard envelope via standard mail (in which case you'd know). Either way, Im sure you'll find out in due time. Hope this helps. Goodluck to everyone, hopefully today brings many people good news!
2008 M.Arch applicants, commiserate here!
yeah, i dunno, i'm still pretty bummed
yeah man. maybe waitlist... five to go...
all wishful thinking... Im counting yale and uva done deals...
and for the record, im ok with a "fuck you" from anyone whos from spain. no one else though. only countries that spawn penelope cruz
and what does close contact with the admissions people mean? As in you werent calling them pestering them? I dont think Ive called an office ever, does that improve my chances? And wasnt it stern doing the calling anyways?
yales done with. move one. just be happy you dont have to go to school in new haven, ct
lol why did she do something crazy? I would generally consider that an asset
well there's a bunch of schools left to come... I think I'm freaking out because everyone's getting calls. lol
spain is great. awesome architecture, hot babes and godless liberal socialism. paradise?
im sold. might move there when I go 0 for 4 on schools
asbuckeye in Spain any girl is like penelope cruz. There is a common type of girl.
My apologies ... I though we had an informal conversation.
rabbit .... the "liberal socialism" in our government encouraged me to move off the left ...
well it is true that also is gonna pay my m.arch in wherever and almost 2500USD per month, but still screwing
Are you kidding? And you complain about that? I'll be about $100,000 in debt when I finish my M.Arch...
Just you wait an see, spaniard...
hahah, I checked my mail when I got home and it turns out that Yale sent me a bulletin, but no letter, or info. no email. no call.
those silly goof balls.
and $2500 is more than I make in a month... as an architect
I know rabbits ... It is awesome, but they are doing now because within the European union we have the poor education.
They are gonna pay this amount ( up to 185.000 ) with the condition I have to come back to my country for at least four years....
EU has poor education? I don't think so.
ah thats too bad... you have to go back to a country full of penelope's .. a shame
We (Spain) have a poor education respect the rest of the european union
This levels are in high school, primary school, etc... and also we have low levels in research so... I will take advantage of that and get my master paid.
My friend in MArch just got the good call from the GSD..so I guess the ball is rolling

i'm still absolutely floored that i got in to yale. i'm surprised everyone else accepted is so cool about it.

Whooo Hooooo!!!!!

I love L.A... and the best part is, i didn't think I had a chance, only applied to give myself an early (false) deadline!
I can drop the godforsaken calculus class that I've been dying in in case I got into Penn... whoooo hoooooo..... scotchey scotchey scotch!
all you have to do is what your avatar tell's ya...
thanks for the encouragement there thenew. Seriously though, not too torn up about not being accepted. Just, like most around here im sure, want to know. I hate not knowing where the next 3 years of my life are going to be. grr
haha, I am studying for a calculus exam at this very moment. i understand your joy.

big fat envelope for GSD MArch II
so you can get into Yale and GSD at the same time...
good luck to all!

Stelina, where do you live?
Just asking because I am expecting to hear from the GSD as well, and maybe you live closer to Boston? Not that I am expecting to get in, lol.
congrats, btw, and in the first sentence I meant 'waiting' not 'expecting'. ha
I'm in chicago. whereabouts are you?
Los Angeles...
Did they send the GSD envelope fedex ground? California is far away.
Not getting my hopes up :)

Congrats to everyone today!
Man. No Yale. Bummer.
Congrats to everyone today!
Man. No Yale. Bummer.
congrats, stelina, what's your background?
Congrats to everybody who gets acceptance!
I got nothing from the school I applied, no admission, no rejection, nothing at all!
Does anybody have the same problem as me? How do you solve it? Do you ask the school for results?
I'd wait a while longer before trying to contact the schools - unless they specifically said they were going to notify you earlier. I haven't heard anything from my schools yet either.

I see, thanks all.
I know others have already had news, but I have none --
no news is bad news.
i know this is no guarantee but maybe a very small light at the end of the tunnel?....this is from gradcafe

so i guess yale doesnt do all acceptances in one day?
