I dreamt one time that I was in line at mcdonalds behind s group of human-sized, quite tamed, cockroaches (ew, I know right... mcdonalds?). Unfortunately, nothing sexual.
i'm bored at work too, a v. just searched through all of last year's thread for dates when i can start hoping to hear back from more schools. in case anyone's interested, the earliest archinect acceptances were:
all via email. rejects tended to come later with the exception of princeton, who did a massive e-jecting purge on the 15th. so i'm guessing.... 17 days until we can reasonably expect to hear much of anything..... bleh.
well someone started this thread yesterday, so uva is apparently already getting going calling people. when my bf applied a few years ago they were the first school he heard from, but that still wasn't until the first week of march. watch out for that 434 area code.
"saftey"...quotes...,meaning its a safety relatively speaking...as in I didnt apply to any safeties. Uva was just probably my best shot...only cause I live in VA (which might not have any bearing at all)
websites. BUT, you have to be very sneaky about it. You won't find the information from the architecture page. however, every department is required to submit enrollment information to the Graduate School of their respective university.
So, i found out by googling "Graduate School Annual Report" or "Statistics"...and i got a bunch
for undergrad being a va resident helps because the first year class has to be 65% in-state and only 35% out-of-state, but i don't think grad programs have to adhere to any residency quotas - sorry asbuck. you'll just have to settle for getting accepted on the significant merit of your portfolio.
i didn't apply to any real "safeties" either - i figured that even though having such a top-heavy list was terrifying, it's better to focus your efforts on the places you're really excited about. plus i figured i could always apply again next year if i didn't get in.
yeah, think you're right there snar. however, I know uva's law school and other grad schools need to fulfill those instate quotas. but I could see an arch school being exempt from that as their class sizes are miniscule in comparison.
But, I did get an email from the grad department saying they got about 635 applicants to their M.Arch program this year. Assuming they accept 30 incoming students, that's about 22%
no peanut butter in denmark. a friend and i made pb&j sandwiches for her host brothers and they were totally grossed out. and yet, they eat leverpostej and fishpaste on everything.....
I think every year is competitive now. Last year, admissions people on the commiserate thread were talking about "How fierce the competition was"...also.
2008 M.Arch applicants, commiserate here!
afrdzak my dream: I was having sex with my new neighboor.
go make it a reality
ooook. this is getting interesting
you can add me to the "bored at work" list
I would, but I'm too busy having sex with YbTH's new neighbor
daydreaming again, are we?
hey YbTH, post a pic of your new neighbor. It better be a woman!
Uhm... send me a private post and I will give you back my paypal address.
Just 50USD by snapshot
hmmm the conversation seems to have come to a halt...
anyone else have any interesting dreams to share / acceptance letters?
*because I'm still at work, still bored!

yale - 3/13
gsd - 3/13
princeton - 3/15
berkeley - 3/22
all via email. rejects tended to come later with the exception of princeton, who did a massive e-jecting purge on the 15th. so i'm guessing.... 17 days until we can reasonably expect to hear much of anything..... bleh.
i didn't apply to any of those! i'm a loser
thanks I applied to three of those...any idea about uva?
someone got a call yesterday from UVA
hmm, who? on this board? time for me to start panicking that I didnt get into my "saftey"?
uva as a safety? I thought they were pretty selective. my safeties are UW and U of Illinois, Urbana Champaign.
well someone started this thread yesterday, so uva is apparently already getting going calling people. when my bf applied a few years ago they were the first school he heard from, but that still wasn't until the first week of march. watch out for that 434 area code.
i would never consider UVA a safety. just sayin'
Michigan, with an acceptance rate near 80%, should be a safety
"saftey"...quotes...,meaning its a safety relatively speaking...as in I didnt apply to any safeties. Uva was just probably my best shot...only cause I live in VA (which might not have any bearing at all)
Smitthwillb - where can I find information on different schools acceptance rates?? Im so curious!
80% acceptance rate at Michigan? That doesn't sound right.

Columbia - 23% - 30%
Yale - 9%
Texas - 23%
Michigan - 75%
Cornell - (conflicting information) anywhere from 13%-30%
Princeton - 0%
For Michigan 3G program:
• 134 Applications (63 Female, 71 Male), (16 International, 118 Domestic)
• 105 Admissions (51 Female, 54 Male), (2 International, 103 Domestic)
• 38 Enrolled (Unofficial)
• 61 Scholarships offered, 25 accepted
• Undergraduate GPA Average 3.34
• GRE Average score: Verbal 554, Quantitative 682, Analytical Writing 4.6
• Student Studio/Faculty Ratio: 12-1
that's 78%

yeah. michigan...75, that cant be right. and princeton 0%, huh?
princeton's is 9%. last year they got 365 applications and admitted 34. this year they're hoping to admit 37.
that was joke. about princeton. but, i guess it's not funny for the 93% percent of applicants who pay $85 for a rejection email from them.
yeah, think you're right there snar. however, I know uva's law school and other grad schools need to fulfill those instate quotas. but I could see an arch school being exempt from that as their class sizes are miniscule in comparison.
Well here's the info on Berkeley: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_California,_Berkeley_Student_Admissions
Although this includes all of CED and not just the Architecture program.
But, I did get an email from the grad department saying they got about 635 applicants to their M.Arch program this year. Assuming they accept 30 incoming students, that's about 22%
anyone know anything about syracuse / U. of Washington (not washU) / Illinois tech / Virginia tech ?
here are a few more m.arch acceptance rates from one of my trusty google spreadsheets:
uc berkeley - 17%
gsd - 20%
syracuse - 54%
wash u (not uw) - 66%
rice - 9%
heheh thanks! I tried to find some numbers on SCI-Arc but i found nothing reliable. Princetonereview.com has nothing on them...
does anyone knows if Princeton's 34 including both MArch1 and MArch2?
yeah, unfortunately i think that's including professional, professional with advanced standing, AND post-professional.
I love the princeton program. I came late to the application. I am a looser too
i fucking love peanut butter. can i just say that. i love it. do they have this in other countries?
uhm ... in Spain there is that thing. but we have better foods, so nobody eat penaut butter.
peanut butter + jelly + a baseball bat. now where are you guys at?
no peanut butter in denmark. a friend and i made pb&j sandwiches for her host brothers and they were totally grossed out. and yet, they eat leverpostej and fishpaste on everything.....
snarkitekt, are you from Denmark? My roommate also.
HOW CAN YOU BE GROSSED OUT BY PEANUT BUTTER!? it's like a savory version of nutella or something. i mean, it's wonderful.
nej, jeg er igge dansker. just lived there for six months.
I think every year is competitive now. Last year, admissions people on the commiserate thread were talking about "How fierce the competition was"...also.
bleh blah.
same talk every year.
peanut butter.
All you Non -arch background applicants are officially my enemies.
WHY?
