It would be cool if the comic had 43,561 panels. The last 43,560 would be of the horse tapping its foot.

107 639.1sf in a hectare

it's not how many san franciscos are in an acre but how many acres in san francisco:

approximately 30,080.

here is a calculation question in cooper union test;

if you draw a 43,560 neutical miles in 1' = 3/16" scale as a line forming a circle, what would be the diameter of that circle?

1 acre = 1/10 of 1/64 of a square mile... so basically 1/10th of one square in a 8x8 subdivision of a square mile...

if you draw a 43,560 neutical miles in 1' = 3/16" scale as a line forming a circle, what would be the diameter of that circle?

answer;

1 nautical mile = 6076.1155 feet x 43,560 = 264675591.18 feet

264675591.18 drawn @ 3/16" scale = 49626673.34 feet

The circumference (C) of a circle is 49626673.34 feet. What is the diameter (d);
C=d x pi (3.14)

49626673.34' = d x 3.14

d= 49626673.34' / 3.14 = 15804673.038'

so diameter of your circle would be 15804673.038'

further;
this in nautical miles would be,

15804673.038' / 6076.1155' = 2601.11 nautical miles
and you have to draw that circle with a 1300.55 n. miles long string with a chaulk attached to one end, because that woul be your radius..

oh,
1300.55 nautical miles ,
1300.55 x 0.998383 = 1298.45 geographical (regular) miles

1298.45 miles, x 1875 meters = 2434601.85 / 1000=2434.60 kilometers.

good morning from los angeles.

Indeed!

Mar 18, 07 1:08 pm  ·
 ·

correction;

1300.55 nautical miles / 0.868 = 1129.425 miles x 1609.44 = 1817741.77 meters / 1000 = 1817.74 kilometers.

sorry. i hope you didn't start to draw the circle yet.

sorry again, i forgat to convert feet to inches before.

correction;

1 nautical mile = 6076.1155 feet x 43,560 = 264675591.18 feet

264675591.18 drawn @ 3/16" scale = 4135556.111'

The circumference (C) of a circle is 4135556.111' feet. What is the diameter (d);
C=d x pi (3.14)

4135556.111' = d x 3.14

d= 4135556.111' / 3.14 = 1317056.086

so diameter of your circle would be 1317056.086'

further;
this in nautical miles would be,

1317056.086' / 6076.1155' = 216.75 nautical miles
and you have to draw that circle with a 108.37 n. miles long string with a chaulk attached to one end, because that woul be your radius..

oh,
108.37 nautical miles ,
108.37 / 0.868 = 124.86 geographical (regular) miles x 1609.44 = 200957.08 meters / 1000 = 200.95 km.

i might be wrong again but it should be okay because there is no future in mathematics combined with architecture degree...

area of 'that' circle would be;

r x r x 3.14 = A

124.86 x 124.86 x 3.14 = 48952.66 sq. miles = 31,329,702.4 acres

area of san francisco = 47 Sq. Miles = 30 080 acre

in that circle there would be 1041.54 san franciscos totaling of
1 364 721 836 544 square foot
and if 63% of that is housing of average 859 sq. ft. apts, =
2 521 798 762.94 be the number of units needed.

so if there is a city with the size of 1041.54 san francisco's with,
2 521 798 762.94 units of 859 sq. ft apts with 3 people living in them each, = 7 565 396 288.84 people would be living in that city.

might as well saying, welcome to megacisco.

this is also to show california can contain 3368.12 san franciscos

which is to say it can contain 3 times the roughly 7.5 billion population living in 859 sq. ft. apartments covering the 63% of the overall california.
like three times the world's current population can live in california in apartments with approx. 286 sq. ft. of personal space. and there would be still 58571.74 sq. miles of open space left, totalling,
37 485 913.6 acres

ahemm.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city of Jacksonville, Florida has a total area of 2,264.5 km² (874.3 mi²), making it the largest city in land area in the contiguous United States.

that's 559,552 acres, or 18.6 San Franciscos.
