i know it sounds retarded but i click on the unzipped folder
'acad express' which is 2.60M in size

then i get a etv 1-9.exe file

i click on that get a window saying

'this will install express tools vol 1-9. do you wish to continue?'

i click yes.

but...

after i get another window showing me saying its extracting the files
nothing happens.

nor do does anything show up in acad when i open it up again.

At the AutoCAD command prompt, type BONUSMENU (if I remember correctly). You should get your Express Tools.

If you have the AutoCAD installation disk, there might be an option to install Express Tools buried under a layer or two of menus.

Also, make sure your version of Express Tools is compatible with your version of AutoCAD.

It might also be affected by which version of windows you are running....thinking maybe a newer version of windows isn't like an old version of autocad. Just a stab in the dark, but you know Bill Gates....He will do anything and everything he can to you.....I'm sure he has stock in Autodesk.....lots of stock.

You can write your own layiso macro:

^C^C^P_ai_molc;^P\-layer;OFF;*;;;

It's a bit complicated, and I'm not sure if it's the same in 2002 as in 2006, but look in the help section under "macros". Basically you have to create a new button which starts the macro. Otherwise, look in the discussion groups on the autodesk website. Also handy is the "all layers on":

^C^C^P-layer;ON;*;;

greenlander1...try this

go to control panel
double click "add/remove programs"
pick autocad, then click on "change" button
a dialog box will appear...pick "add or remove features"
click next

the next dialog box will ask you which components you want to install...

expand the "program files" tree
there you'll see "express tools"
click on the small arrow pointing down to give you the options

then to this point it's up to you which one to select...(will be installed in local hard drive versus entire feature will be installed in local har drive)

self explanatory from this point on...

hope that works!...
