It's a sorry state of affairs when I get most of my first-hand news (like this news about James Brown) from Archinect's discussion forum. I bet when they find bin Laden, I will learn about it first on Archinect.
WFMU is doing a great tribute to the hardest Working Man in Show business right this very moment at 91.1 (In the NYC environs) or at www.wfmu.org I can actually say that James Brown's death makes me sad a little bit, he has brought me quite a lot of good times over the years. A friend of mine got married a few years back, and for his reception just told everyone to make their way over to the free JN concert in battery park. Hard to beat that.
Paid almost two days wages to see the Godfather in little old Auckland a couple of years back. Could wipe the grin off my face for a whole week! Possibly the most amazing performer I have ever seen.
I hope everyone has been playing 'A Very Funky Christmas'
do you think at the funeral some guy is going to come over, and place a purple velvet cape over the casket? Watch as the crowd of unlookers wait to see if its flipped off once last time.
RIP Godfather

oops.. pneumonia. RIP, the almighty Godfather of Soul (and Funk!)

I am sad to hear that we lost a true legend. I am more depressed at the thought of the lame tributes with P-Diddy and Kanye West.
good point, i'll be another shit storm of lame ass music laced with samples from the man.

You want him to just get back up while someone assists him with his robe... just one last time.
I'll have to dial him up on the juke box tonight.
Performing Prisoner of Love/Please Please Plese at The T.A.M.I. Show (1964).
