Am heading to Tokyo for a week soon. Has anyone some suggestions for must sees (im sure theres plenty). Also will be travelling around the rest of japan afterwards and would be greatful if people could reccommend places to visit.
if u r in tokyo, must see the prada store by H&deM. TOds store by iTo, the omote sando hill, roppongi hill. also the fishermen's market which opens from 7 am to 1pm..if u want to eat fresh sushi, must go.
if u have time, must go to kyoto, 2 very extreme different cities bet kyoto and tokyo. kyoto lots of temples and shrines. very beautiful. o1-2 days in kyoto is enough.
if u r there for a week, get the one week JR pass, approx. $240us. but really worth it when u take the bullettrain to each cities.
Osaka, go to shin sai bashi suji. its a long strip mall that runs at least 5-6 big blocks.
living wise, try budget inn or super hotel. very reasonable deal.
Don't pass up all of Japan's amazing traditional architecture just to hit the boutiques in Tokyo - two of the best temples are Horyuji in Nara and Zenkoji in Nagano City. Do NOT only visit the Asakusa tourist temple in Tokyo, and think all temples are the same. ;-)
the best building i saw in japan was the sanaa museum for 20th century art in kanazawa. itm is really beautiful. well, actually the best was the ise shrine, but that is for traditional architecture. it is amazing, the site is also really beautiful. by the way, you need atleast a week to see just tokyo, so dont try to rush everything unless you have to. enjoy it.
