Queen is always there with the helpful comments!! I just got a Dell M90 with the 512mb Quadro card. So far, it's butter smooth. It wasn't cheap, but it's worth every penny.

i just bought a IBM T60P and that will run Maya9 with some extra balls to run any other programs at the same time that you want. get a FireGL graphics cad and nothing less than 2gigs of RAM, and you should be fine.
