Although you can see Dominus (HdeM building) from 28, it is not open to the public. Can't say that there are a lot of great buildings in the area, but that is not really the reason to go to Napa.
After a long lunch at the French Laundry and enough glasses of wine, all of the buildings look cool.
dominus finally responded to the influx of architects acting pissy about the winery's privacy with a tour available one a month (i believe during the middle of the week) call (707) 944-8954
and if you're drunk enough, michael graves designed the Clos Pegase winery in Calistoga. tours from 11a-2p.
can anyone recommend cool buildings to visit @ Napa Valley?
can anyone recommend cool buildings to visit @ Napa Valley and tell me how to get there? (HdeM winery, SHA..., maybe there's more?)

thanks. so any recommendations in sn. fco besides de new DeYoung museum?
there is a frank lloyd wright around there, the Federal Building by morphosis.
In napa check out/ take the tour of Rubicon (Coppola's winery) and Silverado has an impressive view from its terrace.
Also if you have a chance swing by the Berkley campus on the way to napa... lots of Maybeck buildings around there
use the thread search for "San Francisco" or "Bay Area". There's likely a lot of answers buried in there.
...thread search located at the bottom of the discussion page.
tiburon - "sn. fco"?! Is that how you think you're supposed to abbreviate San Francisco? SF, dude. SF.
Use google maps: the FLW building is on Maiden Lane in SF, next to Union Square.
Stanley Saitowitz has a couple of good buildings in South of Market in SF also.
I can also recommend St. Mary's Cathedral by Nervi, at the corner of Gough St. and Geary Blvd.
Napa is a joke. Lots of Disney-fied wineries.
Enjoy!
Don't forget to stop by Wright's courthouse/civic center in San Rafael on your way up to Napa, right off the 101 freeway.
