personal laser cutter

guppy

What happens to laser cutters when they become out of date? Does anyone know of a source that sells used ones, and if it is even conceivable to buy one for personal use for relatively little money. Shouldn't the era of personal prototyping tools be coming?

I'm with you, guppy! Been fantasizing about getting my own - I heard that one could be had for as little as $5 000, but I have not actually seen one at this price.

I've been thinking about having my own too, ever since I read that JJ Abrams has one. He uses it to cut out drawings for his kids. Personally I think I could put one to better use.
