While catching up with the latest science news I came across an article about building wind noise.
I have never heard o this issue pervious however some other building of noise note are:
Building - Betham Tower, Manchester
Sound - middle C (sounds like a flute or UFO!)
Result - Investiagtion by contractor Carillion
Remedy - unkown during ongoing construction
Building - Cityspire tower, New York
Sound - octave above middle C at 523 Hz (sounded like an air raid siren)
Result - Building Managers fined in 91
Remedy - Removal of half number of louvers
Building - Expo Pavillion, Holland
Sound - 100 decidel howl at 2500 Hz (sounds like a penny whistle)
Result - Specialist consultant TNO report and analysis
Remedy - chicken wind added behind steel gratings to façade
I was wondering if there was any sofware out there for Practice that doesn't relay on employing boffins post construction to sort the problem. Is it even a common problem as the BRE state that there is a dearth of knowledge in the construction industry.
The quoted BRE comment was that the subject was being hushed up.
