I know there has to be a command for this, I just need to know what it is. I want to take a tblock I created in modelspace and pull it into paperspace through a vport. This is an easy one, can someone help me out??
go into paper space, the select on the tools menu:
View-->Viewports-->1 Viewport
If it isn't a rectangle, you can select polygonal viewport.
This is just like a polyline, so you can change the size
On the bottom of youre screen you see snap.grig.ortho.polar.osnap.otrack.lwt.paper
the last one, paper, is what decides if you controling the paper space area or the model space area (this is all while you're in the sheet layout). If you select model space, you can change the scale of your title block. To make the scale do the following:
Make sure the last button says Model and not Paper. Then type z and hit enter, s and hit enter then your scale (for instance if you want 1/4" scale you type "1/48xp").
Go to Paper Space, create a viewport and put the title block inside the viewport. scale the viewport accordingly. (i.e. - if your title block is full size, make the viewport 1:1, if the title block is scaled, make the viewport 1/8" or 1/4", whatever the case may be). double click in the viewport and type CHSPACE (change space). select what you want and it will move into paper space at the correct scale.
CHSPACE changes objects from Model Space into Paper Space, or vice versa. If you use this, you don't need to look at the title block through a viewport, it will physically be moved into Paper Space, and will no longer exist in Model. Once finished with CHSPACE, the viewport can be erased.
In my standard office the standard is to xref all titleblocks because it may become difficult to activate a selected viewport if too many viewports are completely overlapped.
wblock your title block to your present job folder, then xref, standard bingo- lime green, leisure suit.
wait a minute. you hate xrefs? the standard i have always used (in 3 offices) is to have separate model files (floor plans, sections, elevations) and sheet files. the sheet files have the model files xrefed into them. for example i working on a house now and have eight sections in one model file. i have xrefed this file into four separate sheet files and have scaled viewports in paper space. also the title block has been xrefed into the sheet file. it seems to keep things more organized this way and i know when i make a change to the model all my sheet files will be updated. also any changes made to the title block are updated in every sheet. wow, i worked on a courthouse that had 400 sheets in the set. i would have killed myself everytime i had to change the date on 400 drawings. next work out the attachment/overlay differences with xrefs then - bingo- lime green, lesure suit
These aren't working drawings, they are as-builts, and will require no modifications. The people receiving these drawings hardly know how to play solitare, let alone how to open a file with an xref. It's just easier to bind all the xrefs once I get the drawings.

what's a tblock?
if you mean 'block' - then i'd just copy with a basepoint - you'll have to then scale it.
It's a titleblock.
That works, I just figure there's gotta be an easier way to do it, without using scale and move.

sweet.
thats exactly what i said, i was just more detailed in the steps.

try it, it's cool
Thanks kevbo205. That's what I was looking for. I'll have to write that one down.

Can't XREF, file will be entered into a database, it must be a single file.
Besides, I hate XREFs, too many idiots here. They are slowly making me crazy.
copy, paste, scale
