ADA bars?

nothing_is_everything

Im looking for some good precedents for ADA compliant bars (bars as in happy hour and drinking, not 'grab' or 'exam')

Photos appreciated.

So, three quadriplegics roll into a bar . . .

There are hundreds of examples of how people have handled the transition between a 34" high ADA counter and the 42-48" high bar.  Oftentimes, you can simply offer similar style seating options and offerings at a table/banquet [elsewhere] that will suffice for accessibility.  Some may argue that that's a copout.  However, it has been my experience that even when you work a 34" high counter into your bar design, it still feels uncomfortable for the patrons.  Sitting at different elevations feels weird, unless it is an intentional design element.   A transaction / sales counter where folks are not seated, isn't as big of a deal . . .

I believe in floors and hydrolics....no need for changing the bar height.... just be sure to install  guard rails...so you bud doesn't roll of the elevated platform.
