Yes - there is a welfare cliff. It's not set up right. If you work, you get lower benefits to the point that combined with income is less than what you'd get if you just didn't work. Disability is like this too - my mom wanted to work even with her various later in life illnesses, but she could only do a few hours a week at a part time job. The second she were to do that however a lot of her benefits would have disappeared and she wouldn't have been able to make ends meet. You have to make it worthwhile to make people want to work, that means you shouldn't be able to be better off not working.
lol, so what youre saying is dont drink the water they offer, and probably dont want to use the port-a-potties for fear of lord balkins pulling the floor out on you?
stupid question but I've never drawn public toilets, my toilet doesn't have an underside or header do I just draw the swing and a line to indicate a door? Someone told me to draw in a doorheader to indicate door levels....
Nam, dropping this note here in the hopes that you see it - I got your email but I am having issues with that account and can't seem to write back. I didn't want you to think I was ignoring you.
A rant: The new R administration is planning to get rid of the NEA and NEH. I'm fucking terrified of the direction our country is headed and don't know how to manage it. I'm designing something right now (took a day off work to focus on it, in fact): a piece for The Public Collection, a sponsored collection of small free lending libraries here in Naptown. Mine will be a lending library adjacent to a neighborhood that has been one of the most dangerous in the city in the recent past, yet there's a public school there, and tons of children. For the design I'm focusing on the way a neighborhood contains stories, and I'm working with a fantastic poet in collaboration.
It's really fucking hard to throw myself into good design when I know that the country right now is pandering to close-minded isolationist demagogues who refuse to acknowledge - despite eons of evidence to the contrary - that art is basically what makes us human. For fuckssake.
I honestly can't trust anyone with the design tastes that Trump shows. This goes for both sides of the aisle, and yes that makes me judgmental as all get out.
Welcome to the New American Corporation.."Trump-AmeriCo". Trump-AmeriCo will eliminate any culture our relatively young nation has endeavored to create. No more museums, art, national parks, music, theater, historic preservation, etc..Trump-AmeriCo will be a developer driven, value engineered vast wasteland of corporate greed and corruption.
I'm trying to find something to get me thru this weird ass day:
A look at 10 of the key promises Trump made for his first day as president:
—Introduce a constitutional amendment for congressional term limits.
—Freeze hiring for the federal government to reduce payrolls, although the military, public safety and public health agencies would be exempt.
—Ban White House and congressional officials from becoming lobbyists for five years after they leave the government.
—Announce plans to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico or withdraw from the deal.
—Formally withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
—Lift restrictions on mining coal and drilling for oil and natural gas.
—Remove any Obama-era roadblocks to energy projects such as the Keystone XL pipeline.
—Cancel U.S. payments to U.N. climate change programs and redirect the money to U.S. water and environmental infrastructure.
—Stop all federal funding to "sanctuary cities," places where local officials don't arrest or detain immigrants living in the country illegally for federal authorities.
—Suspend immigration from regions associated with terrorism where vetting is difficult.
I read the transcript of his address. It's actually not a terrible speech (aside from the whole thing about offshoring jobs). Or, rather, it would be a good speech if I had one iota of faith in his ability to follow through on his word.
Either some kind of socialist rent-model (decentralized ownership of "the means of production" a.k.a. Robots) or Universal Basic Income (state ownership of production, profits distributed somehow).
I was wondering did anyone get a chance to catch the inauguration speech? I was tied up on a more important project; watching the snow melt in the parking lot
Hi! I know it's been a while, and most of you all don't know me anymore, but I needed a family-free place to post a link, and lots of people to see it.
Did you know there's an official whitehouse petition to see THE tax returns? It's only have way to it's minimum number of signatures, too.
Thread Central

That place probably has more to do with pizzagate than I could imagine
What have I done?
RickB-BSMNT is feelin' the burn!
lol, goodtimes...my feet are toasty!

Could be that it's early, but I'm not quite following you...
Drawing program?
Revit has toilet compartment families. You just plop a manufacturer's family in and host it on a surface.
Autocad... I just use line work.
toilet header?

I think he means the stall door?
Who needs stall doors?
Prudes.
Everybody poops.
swing and line should be right. if there isn't a header on the partition door, why would you draw a header?
Oh, b3ta. <sigh> What am I going to do with you?!
B3ta, call it by its proper name.
If a toilet has a header, what kind of hat do you need to specify?

Some golden nuggets
So my hometown is installing "Home of Vice President Pence" signs tomorrow. Sure, lets celebrate someone that tries to codify hate laws.
What's up with all the necro threads lately?

Welcome back tumble.
Some people wanted to tear it down and make a parking lot.
Ok, so the guy has done one good thing.
And yet
jla get your guns.
In apolitical news, I led my first client presentation at the new job yesterday and they ate it up! I think I passed my initiation here.
Hi tumbles....still making Goat Cheese?

i think monday counts as his 'first full day...'
I'm actually for the term limits and lobbying reforms...
The rest of it boils my blood.
I read the transcript of his address. It's actually not a terrible speech (aside from the whole thing about offshoring jobs). Or, rather, it would be a good speech if I had one iota of faith in his ability to follow through on his word.
I have a cold, which means I can't get as drunk tonight as I want to get <sigh>
I guess I'll do a hot toddy. That always knocks me out.
Donna, might I recommend some tea, with lemon and honey, and a heavy splash of bourbon.
On the advice of my girlfriend's Irish grandmother, it'll fix what ails ya.
The problem of course, is that for every job lost to outsourcing, 8-10 jobs have been lost to automation.
It's gonna be a rude awakening when all the jobs come back and we realize how few of them actually "left"
Either some kind of socialist rent-model (decentralized ownership of "the means of production" a.k.a. Robots) or Universal Basic Income (state ownership of production, profits distributed somehow).
Or we're back to feudalism.

I was sitting on the Throne like the First Martin Luther...missed the whole damn thing.
kcam: "i think monday counts as his 'first full day..." You mean he gets the Weekend Off? I'm running for President!

Anyway, maybe I'll read a few pages and catch back up..... Hi, Snook, glad to see you're still around.
