sucks that they wouldn't let people see the full program BEFORE paying the $75 registration fee. what do they mean by non-human anyway? sounds a little flaky to me.
it took me awhile to get a grip of what they say in the brief and the best i can summarize is as follows.
the premise is that wo/mankind has always exploited his/her environment and we have now reached a point where the environment is depleted. old forms of architecture and building no longer hold relevant and valid. the project asks us to come up with a proposal for building in this landscape; to meditate upon what it means to build in this landscape... by non-human, i think they mean how do we integrate both the things we have created (cars, roads, cell phones, computers etc) as well as the things we still have, all be it less of (trees, leaves of grass, oil, etc)...
the things that have come to mind have been things like http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006/01/living_treehous.php
but these things too, seem too far fetched in a way and hardly a wave of the future... how else to integrate humans and non-humans, as they put it?
Steedman Competition
I just signed up solo and now I am wondering if I can enter with a friend. Does anyone know? Its hard to stay motivated by oneself...
nope. individual entries only.
besides, you really want to split 30k with a partner?
