mp3 players

.dwg

my mp3 player died on me. i need a new one for the late nights in studio and for jogging, but i also don't want to have to deal with a tempermental one again. i also don't really want an ipod or nano.

any suggestions? or even suggestions on which ones to avoid? i'm not looking for a high capacity one. 512mb would even do it for me...

The Creative ones are good. I've had one for two years and it's been nice. They've made them smaller too.

My friend has an iRiver that he loves a lot.

Sony makes this sexy little guy that I want. It's like the size of a deck of cards and is 20 GB. I don't really know how good it is, but it looks awesome.

He's had it about a year. Too bad about the Creative. Both my friend and I have been happy with ours. I hope it breaks though haha. I have the service plan and I want to get somthing new before the service plan wears out.

i got this one from toshiba, a gigabeat (but not this color)

is fairly ok, mostly chosen for the color screen, the + shaped GUI and because it wasn't from mac...

10 gb for about $250. i paid a small premium as it was at the time the new model.

1 gB -enough for your weekly selection-, great (I mean, really great) sound, small and compact, + FM radio, rechargeable battery.. still works perfectly for me (bought it 1.5 years ago)

avoid phillips; their firmware doesn't work at all.

I hate to say it, but the best looking flash-based mp3 player is at Wal-Mart, Gasp! http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=3756867 I don't know about the sound quality or battery life, but it looks good.

I'd get that MobiBlu. PC Mag gave it a ed's pick for the year (review is below, I think). It just looks damn cool. That, or a Nano, but they are a lot more. I'll sell you my brand new Creative Zen (4 gigs) for $150 ;-)

iRiver U10

(512MB or 1GB)
does everything you could want (fm recording, voice recording, flash games, pictures, video), and the controls are blood simple.

The mobiBLU is available outside of Wal-Fart. Check out Amazon.

Anyone own one of these?

I've been lookin to get one myself - far too many scratched and damage cds - as well they are getting harder to carry. I bought my gf a sony 512 to use when she goes to the gym - but she doesn't use it that much. I'm thinking something I can have recharged, holding most of my cd collection (about 250 cds) - and most important it must cool and not under/over designed
