Can't see why not, seeing as FedEx guys are effectively doing the hand-delivering regardless. But won't the school be closed in 2 weeks? It'd be hilarious if you got there, only to be banging on windows and scaling ledges for one of the arch. staff to let you in.

I applied to Cal a few years back, and hand delivered it since I was living in Berkeley at the time, so I don't think it'd be a problem. I'd give the admissions office a call first just to make sure that they are okay with that and will be around during your visit.

Honestly, mailing sounds more convenient though. You can get a confirmation number with your delivery to make sure it has arrived.

@batman Schools only started to use digital submissions in the last year or so.

some people prefer hand delivery over fedEX. it gives them a peace of mind and satisfaction. that and it gives you a bit more time to package everything together.   

Just hand delivered my portfolio to GSAPP today. It was no big deal - it sounded like I wasn't the first to do so.

Many applicants at our school hand-delivered their portfolio's and applications last year. Its no big deal, but I agree with the person above - before making the trip, make sure someone will actually be there on the day you plan to arrive.
