cloud computing?

remote desktop:  can it be done reliably?

we are considering investing in a serious rack machine to which our studio can log in remotely (LAN) and render at will.  what are the pitfalls?  will regular comp usage suffer when a large, complicated renderings are in process?

we need some advice, has your firm migrated to this solution?

you should check out the AU presentation from Perkins & Will - BO234-1 from AU 2010.

We've looked at it, but for a myriad of non-technical reasons, haven't taken the leap.

We do use RDP & Citrix to access our personal machines while out of the office to work on Revit files and other things that can't be worked on remotely.  Pretty easy, a little lag depending on your connection, but very workable.
