need help with fixing a fee for a 3 storey residential building (row house) in philly. i know this kind of question has been asked a zillion times( and have done a search for previous postings) but i thought i could have some comments specific to my project.
i have been asked to submit a fee for preparing architectural drawings for permit approval for a 3-4 bedroom single family dwelling with approx floor area of 3000 sq ft.
i'm not sure my estimation of hours required to complete the drawings would be accurate enough to give fee based on hourly charge.
since this may be a common program, could the more experienced among us who have done similar work give what they consider would
be a competitive and fair price for this kind of job.
i'm not licensed btw but have a more than a couple of years experience under my belt.
is it new construction?
are you producing interior elevations?
are all consultants contacted seperately?
will you be working with the building department yourself?
do you have a construction budget?
In Los Angeles, unlicenced firms I know are getting between 10 and 15 dollars a square foot (less for a builders sets) or approx 6-7% construction. This is a very broad estimate.

yes it's new construction from ground up
i don't expect to do interior elevations unless critically necessary-i'll try and make the sections take care of that
no some one else takes over at the building dept stage
no construction budget yet
