excellent question but i have not seen any published (they must be out there somewhere?) so have always hauled along/created my own when i was working for other firms as the CAD manager.
just sell the value to and get buy-in from your principals and you will have all the authority you need with your co-workers. no need to argue with joe blow file slobs.
for all of you AIA bashers out there, the AIA makes available to anybody for FREE DOWNLOAD a wide variety of "best practices" ... go to AIA Best Practices and browse ... the specific item you want is 13.02.04 (that would be in chapter 13)
there's a lot of other useful stuff there also ... spend some time looking around ...
The Architect's Handbook of Professional Practice (another AIA publication ... sorry guys) also provides some guidance on infomation management that you may find useful ... starts on p. 382 of the 13th edition ... you have to pay for this book, but most libararies should have a copy
i believe the NCS only deals with drawing production ... what you ask is much too broad for the NCS
National CAD Standards - Folder Set-up
i believe that all things related to layers, symbols, sheet set-up etc
are covered in the National CAD standard.
BUT
i cannot find anything about a standard project folder set-up.
is anybody aware of such a thing?
exciting stuff, i know, but i just want to buy a standard - use it and
not argue with my co-workers about where a transmittal should be filed.
