First it was the station wagon, then the mini-van,...SUV. Now this time, mom's got a convoy!
But don't anyone worry about gas mileage. These are diesels, so they'll probably get the same MPG as a Suburban. Plus, you can go fill up behind Chan's Super Buffet.
wow those are ugly. I can understand why someone would want a porshe or a ferrari or a corvette, but I just do not get people who buy cars that are both wastefull and ugly!
I do find it amusing that they are trying to market these a luxury vehicles, when they might have been able to appeal to those wanting to use them as work trucks (which was international's traditional market)
no cb, and, funny, i don't even remember the radio except that it was integral to the painted metal dash - just three openings for the two knobs and the tuner window.
i do remember the after-market a/c that my dad had installed. drained water all over the floor because there was no condensate drain as part of the design of it.
mine looked just like the one above, by the way. same color and almost the same trim package. (no luggage rack.) but mine was a '71 and that's a '73.
i'm just pissed that VW has apparently pulled the plug on reintroducing the microbus in favor of jointly designing a minivan with *urp* chrysler. i really wanted one of these...
VW's quality and reliability really isn't any better than Chrysler's, VW is just more overhyped. I know saying this is blasphemy, particularly on an architecture message board, but it's true.

If all of you have the time to make comments on each others cars, then I doubt if any of you will have much success in the profession of architecture. Good luck?
Oconnell has plenty of time to read our posts and make comments. So, he is either a cad monkey without architectural success or we hit a sore spot. Maybe that is Ashton Kutcher in the international truck. Good luck? Was that a rhetorical question? The thread began as a social commentary and evolved, big deal, get over it, go click your mouse.
brendtoconnell's profile lists their occupation as "architect/designer."
apparently being an architect isn't successful enough; they feel the need to add "designer"?
MY NEW CAR
Crazy how we keep churning out these gas eaters when a gallon now costs the same as a grande latte.

if you don't have a big penis - buy one...
this coming from a boy who has a 200 dollar a week coffee habit
i hope the tires are self inflating, because if i see one... ssssssssss...
cool design. too bad you can't just throw it on the copier and reduce it. i'd like mine 55%, please.
no. keep your extreme. i said 55%, please.
Oh wait, here is the whole family

I alway knew Truck Driving School was gonna get chic one day.

Being that they're geared towards towing capacity I doubt you'll see alot of suburban housewifes driving these. Even if they don't require a CDL.
As for gas..........

today.
union 76 station, centinella @ national, west lost angeles;
premiun gasoline 91 octane -- $ 3.57 per gallon.
rationalist,
for you(and me) a ferrari or corvette is beautiful
for some people these doucheholder trucks are beautiful
I can even see the appeal of a Hummer, even though no one will ever 'really' use them. But these, man, these are ugly!!
ashton kutcher thinks it's cool so it is!
does it come with a complimentary wife beater shirt, trucker hat and a few porn mags in the glove compartment?
I've been looking for something like that, only with a convertible top.
trace - is this better? :D
The guy who designed the above has a hilarious site as far as design companies go. It has a store and apparel...awesome, where's my Morphosis hat!?
My, I love threadjacking.
count yourself lucky in the US. I pay £0.96 per litre my way.
I think I've tried to equate this to dollars and gallons before but your measurements are slightly different from the gallons I know.
estaimated as $6.38 per us gallon
i would rather they had reintroduced this classic. my first 'car':
do they come standard with an in-dash CB radio?
no cb, and, funny, i don't even remember the radio except that it was integral to the painted metal dash - just three openings for the two knobs and the tuner window.

wow! that's cool, steven. mine looked more like this one, though not exactly.
also no cb, mwad. no 8-track either.
er, pixelwhore, not mwad.
i'm just pissed that VW has apparently pulled the plug on reintroducing the microbus in favor of jointly designing a minivan with *urp* chrysler. i really wanted one of these...
when i get my smart car, ill crush your big ass with it
that sucks because the old international "Scout-esque" trucks were boss.

but commenting on other people's commenting yields professional success?
o'connell acts as if we aren't already successful in the profession of architecture.
maybe being successful allows one the luxury to make comments on each others' cars?
Brent, you get the Dink award!
b4a,
i suppose you're right - i was only attracted to the design.
two posts and already you're ingratiating yourself. congrats.
and with one fell swoop brendtoconnell has completely lost any chance at ever being liked or respected on archinect.
and on only his second comment... well done!
