How can Campers stay involved year round and have a voice in Camp Echo's future?
Over the past couple years, more and more people have been coming to Camp Echo, a sleep away YMCA camp in Michigan, whether as campers or staff. The time has come to find a way to have successful land management to accommodate this population growth. To do this, they would need more cabins, tents, and areas for activities.
The YMCA has been trying to become more united as a community by remodeling their logo in 2011. Through a process of collaborating and sharing ideas, the Y could begin to have a collective identity with a social platform. Camp Echo’s current network—staff, campers, family, and friends—would use technology, which almost everyone has access to in these days, to help think of ways to improve camp.
We are asking for proposals from technologists, designers, artists, and architects. The proposal you submit will be a document describing the social platform — what it is, how it works, who would be involved, what are the incentives. Essentially, we are looking for a forum where people can share and collaborate on ideas of how to use the land, while fundraising to be able to make it happen. Perhaps this is one program or two programs working together.
What we are asking for is to list ideas of social platform that you may have to improve Camp Echo.
