Hi - I'm teaching a second year design studio - the project is a surf club on the beach (California). I'm looking for some case studies - such as community centers or buildings that have an interesting relationship to water. Please let me know if you have any ideas! Thanks.
not really a community center, but Icerberg's (thats the name of the place) at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia has a really interesting sea fed pool literally adjacent to the water.
I briefly studied the new Oslo Opera building this summer (but for reasons seperate than what you're looking for), and its definately something to look into. Very unreal total-pedestrian-use idea.
