How does California income tax generally compare to New York?

my fault.

For a person making roughly around 60k a year, how does CA compare to NY? (including all taxes/fees that would be taken off the paycheck).

if anyone has information it would be great or if  there an online calculator or website someone can refer me to..

Don't forget city income taxes and high state/city sales tax. Both states suck from a tax perspective though they clearly have other things to offer (possibly as a result of those higher taxes?).

the high taxes pay for a bloated state government - which then demands more revenue to keep it going.  any 'painful cuts' are just cuts to the annual increase in spending.  so if you're a government worker new york and california do have a lot to offer you.

Both of  these are progressive taxation numbers on taxable income (not gross income), but whatevs. NY taxes the poor and middle class a lot more so than CA.

Using one of them online tax calculators (no idea why the OP couldn't have done this themselves), $60K will get you about $43k cash money in CA, and about $41k in NYC (assuming single filer)
