Seeking Advice for a First-Year Architecture Project

étudiant

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on an architectural renovation project and am looking for ideas and advice to best approach the exercise. The project involves redesigning the lobby of an office rental building.

The objective of this consultation is to enhance the building by developing an interior design concept that enriches the user experience, energizes the flow of visitors within Building 026, and harmonizes with the surrounding park and its intended purpose.

1 – Lobby Decoration:
The current lobby décor is outdated, and the idea is to propose a fresh design. This includes introducing a new color scheme that aligns with the building’s architecture, updating decorative elements and accessories, and establishing a new identity for the space.

2 – Visitor Waiting Area:
Despite the space constraints of the lobby, we aim to create a waiting area for visitors, if possible. We would like to develop a modern and stylish space, where visitors can wait in a cozy and welcoming environment.

3 – Signage:
We want to update the building’s signage, making it more contemporary, clear, and in perfect harmony with the new graphic identity being developed for the project. The signage should be tailored to the various tenants of the building, which include a film school, MACIF, MAIF, Grand Paris Aménagement, and a ground-floor business, La Brioche Dorée.
Optionally, the non-accessible patio can be included in your study if you feel it would enhance your proposal.

Attached is the ground floor plan for reference.

P.S.: The area to be addressed is marked in yellow.

Thank you in advance for your insights!

Optionally, the patio area could be incorporated into the design, if you believe it would add value to the overall proposal.

  1. Why are you crowd-sourcing your work?
  2. You are in school to learn creative problem solving, asking strangers online for the answer is lazy.  You won't learn shit this way
  3. What solutions have you come up with thus far and what did your tutor and/or studio peers say when you asked them for comment?
  4. Don't be a lazy student.

The standard procedure in the USA is to copy ideas (and sometimes a whole project) from a recent design magazine or perhaps a prominent architect's website.

We had a guy in our class that did that. He would take parts and pieces from other projects. The professors allowed it because of how he integrated the pieces. Everyone outside of our class called him the 'Copycat Architect'. I believe he runs a successful firm out east now.

That is not the purpose of the exercise,The professor requested this from all the students, as he believes it is part of the learning process. We will gather all the ideas and compare them to ours.

Either you attend a terrible school or your prof is dumb as fuck. Could be both given the terrible nature of this home work assignment.

In order to learn you'll have to do the work yourself, sorry.

Is there a question in there? I don’t see one, all I see are statements. Perhaps start by describing what it is that you have found.

If you really have questions to ask, you need to ask them clearly. Set up a google form or something and send it to peers/this forum etc. Most of us do not have the time to fill up forms but some may oblige.
