Does anyone have the hot gossip on why Obra is hiring every week? Either they are the fastest growing firm in NYC history, or there is some serious turnover.
The listings may or may not indicate real openings or intent to hire. A "fake it till you make it" impulse drives many firms to act like they are always expanding their staff. It's easy to do right now with places like Zip Recruiter and Glassdoor offering free and discounted job listings to any and all.
For those of you not aware, the architecture industry is currently experiencing unprecedented difficulty hiring talent. If you see the same jobs appearing from the same firms, it may be due to the fact that at the moment there is incredible demand for architectural staff, with very little unemployment in this field.
Bad news for firms struggling to hire, but great news for architects looking for a new job. In other words, if you're looking for work, there's really never been a better time to polish up your resume and portfolio because your chances of getting hired may never be better than they are right now.
Everyone’s hiring at the moment, both because there’s more projects being pushed forward and because people are leaving their unsatisfactory companies or leaving architecture entirely.
If you have more than a few years of experience, you’re the hottest commodity and should absolutely take advantage of the current job market. Recruiters in California at least have confessed to me that they can’t even get resumes, much less set up interviews.
I personally have interviewed at few companies and within hours heard back that an offer was being prepared.
