Hello i got assigned this beam and i have no idea what to do with it or where to even start. i need to draw a calculate all internal forces. i would be realy happy for the answers or even the direction where i should start.
Did you ask your teacher for help during the lectures?
what does it say in the parts not shown? looks like you need to know what's up with a,b,c,etc....
rules of thumb:
wood: depth in inches = 2x span in ft
steel: depth in inches = span in ft
I think you mean wood beams. Wood trusses are around 1 to 1.25 depending on weather they are for roof or floor loads.
