VR/AR for review sessions?

robwolsey

Anyone been to a review session that used VR or AR? What was the set-up? Did it add or detract from the review?

Considering investing in equipment, but I'd like to hear about real-world experiences first.

We've been using VR for design-review meetings with clients for about 2 years now.  It's been hit or miss.  Savvy owners who understand why it's being introduced are great because they can appreciate the overall volume of the space and what sightlines might look like.  Others are expecting it to be HGTV and get hung up on the minutia.  Either way, we've found it best to manage the 'driving' and let the client observe on an adjacent monitor.  Depending on the client, it can be a fun, interactive meeting where someone is fumbling thru the model and getting stuck in rooms.  But most of the time, the clients don't like being the center of attention and opt out of putting on the headset.  (We have two set-ups--one for the office and one mobile that can easily be used remotely).
