Wondering if any experts here know what would NYC DOB inspector do when they come do the construction and electrical inspection for a job filing, and found out other violations unrelated to the job, such as illegal conversion in the basement? Can landlord deny access to certain parts in the house once they are inside, or block their view?

It's the same person who was asking about sprinklers and laundry area fire rated enclosure. It's nice that they didn't listen in the first place.
I live and practice in NYC and can tell you that inspectors can go into any space of a building at any time.
What if you put up a sign that says “Nothing Illegal in Here”?
