I am a current high school student in Toronto and was wondering which schools offer the best Architecture programs?
Also, I understand that it is a very competitive field of study, hence wanted to know what I need to do to make my application stick out of the crowd and hopefully get accepted?
Is University of Toronto (Daniels) too technical?
Is the University of Waterloo guarantee a co-op placement for the co-op program, or is that up to the students to find for themselves?
Does Ryerson University offer a good Bachelor and more importantly Masters program?
Does Waterloo look at grades earlier than year 12?
Toronto is not an architecture undergrad, it’s barely a general arts degree and it’s main purpose is to feed its m.arch population. Skip it.
With that said, noted in the other post, Waterloo is better by a cubic light year. But, you have to work your ass off, constantly, and not just for 80hr/week studios. Coop is required, obviously, and it’s up to the students to do most of the reaserch. Plenty of repeat offices always take in students so you have to be very lazy to not find one.
RyU’s bachelor is better than M.arch, but due to its technical nature, it’s sometimes hard for graduates to move to other schools for m.arch.
As for Loo, yes, all your grades are available during the in person panel interview. Cut off if often mid 90%.
Thank you for help, I just also wanted to ask if anyone knew any programs or courses I could take outside of school to help with my portfolio building or just to get a better chance of getting accepted?
