Not sure whether to use BIM or CAD? Anyone able to enlighten me on which is better? Should I be using both?

You'll probably have to use both, whether you like it or not.

This is like asking if dogs or cats are better.  They're both helpful in different ways to different people.

All BIM is CAD! It's like a square vs rectangle relationship!

You are using a building information model to preform computer aided design and drafting.  It's more a question of how smart do you need your system to be VS efficiency.  Only you can answer that.

Different products for different reasons.

CAD oftens as a brand name surrounds all things digital, but thats just a stereotype!

"Working in marketing - keen to hear from Architects for a piece I am writing on Building Information Modelling VS Computer Aided Design."

You should hone your interviewing skills first.
