Surrey or Cornell ?

rattiww

Since both of them offer a course that I'm interested in, and both of them accept the student who holds BA. Architecture.

Cornell - MS.Human Environment Relation - (Environmental Psychology Concentration) (2 year)

Surrey - MS.Environmental Psychology (1 year)

Surrey is definitely cheaper and it's only 1 year, But Cornell seems well known and promising (I guess?). and I would like to have a suggestion or any information about studying there.

Thank you.

Are you living in the US or UK? What do you want to do with the degree?

In the UK, I find the 1 year masters too short for most - a sprint.  If you had an undergraduate environmental psych degree, then the 1 year is fine.

No, neither of them. I live in Thailand.

In one hand, I would like to pursuit academic field and become a university professor, as Thai people, and also Thai architects, have little attention to this information. and I would like to be the one who propagates this.

In the other hand, I would like to continue working in an architectural firm but with more knowledge and could become a specialist in Environmental design that related to architectural practicing.

I am also concerned that 1 year is gonna be too short for me because I have no experience in Environmental Psychology.

Long term you should consider a PhD so you might look at both institutions to see if they support ED at that level.  Have you looked into UC Berkley?

Yes, Both of them have. But Surrey's Ph.D. course is more concentrated in Sustainable design where Cornell's is concentrated exactly in Environmental Psychology.

So, If I wanted to study further, I would be better at Cornell, isn't it?

Also, UC Berkley is great! but their Environmental Design course leaning toward landscape apporach which I'm more interested in the architectural approach.

Thank you for a suggestion.

Consider where the Colleges are located in the University Structure as well.

As an example, the Cornell Program is located in the College of Design and Environmental Analysis and gives you access to a range of design disciplines including fashion/textiles and interiors along with some non-design disciplines like child development. It is only loosely affiliated with the architecture program if you are looking for access to resources there it may be a little more difficult.

Consider how the larger relationships each of the programs are related to your interests and that may help in the decision.

Thank you, I will consider that as well.

I guess I'm leaning toward Cornell as the Surrey Program is located in School of Psychology which is way further than Cornell.

But I Think I will apply for them both first, Since Cornell' requirement is very tough, especially GRE, as I'm not a native English speaker.
