UO SAA vs. GSD Career Discovery

mxf858

Hello!

I am a freshman at an undergraduate college which does not offer architecture. I would like to eventually attend a masters program for architecture. To ensure this is the path for me, this summer I want to attend an architecture program and I am now deciding between University of Oregon's Summer Architecture Academy  and Harvard's Career Discovery.  I have already been accepted to both programs and have two weeks to decide which to attend. I have read some reviews of the CD program and have gotten mixed reviews. But I was wondering how people believed it stood against UO's SAA.

Right now this is what I'm noticing:

Harvard CD:

Cons:

-More expensive
-Mostly student instructors
-No college credit

Pros:

-Intense
-Name recognition

Oregon SAA:

Cons:

-Not as highly regarded school

Pros:
-College credit
-Cheaper
-Both student and faculty instructors

I would probably be able to afford either program, I am just not sure if it would be worth paying more for CD.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!!

My advice, dont go into architecture if you value your freedom and sanity. Plain and simple.

Just my .02 cents

Each year, I compile the list of HS summer programs across the country; I would highly suggest you do one of these --

Discover Architecture at the Illinois School of Architecture is the least expensive in the country - http://go.illinois.edu/discover
