How do you think something like was attached to the wall previously? - Some sleeves have screw holes, while some don't. There are no signs that show anything was screwed from the side.
There is a dowel/post that is set in the wall, screwed to blocking/stud and then GWB / finish around. Then the piece you have slides over and a set screw or epoxy or gummy bears holds it in place. Looks like someone just took a reciprocal saw to them and cut through the posts / screws. The epoxy/set screws/gummy bears came loose during the sawing which is why some have them and some don't.

I'll go with either magic or gummy-bears. Could also be a combination of both.
gummy-bears, or gummy-worms.
Just leave 'em on the floor, then you won't have to attach them to the wall.
So, what are they? Find that out, and you'll easily find the answer on the google...
