I will be traveling to Bogotá and Medellín in a week and wondered if anyone could give me some advice on modern/contemporary architecture to visit. I will also be visiting Rio, Sao Paulo and Brasília in Brazil but there was already a post on Rio and Sao Paulo and Brasília is pretty straight forward.
The only Colombian contemporary architect I know of is Daniel Bonilla, so any other architects and buildings to look out for would be much appreciated.
Bogotá and Medellín, Colombia (architecture to visit?)
Hey everyone
I will be traveling to Bogotá and Medellín in a week and wondered if anyone could give me some advice on modern/contemporary architecture to visit. I will also be visiting Rio, Sao Paulo and Brasília in Brazil but there was already a post on Rio and Sao Paulo and Brasília is pretty straight forward.
The only Colombian contemporary architect I know of is Daniel Bonilla, so any other architects and buildings to look out for would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Medellin
Check out Orquideorama
España Library
Bogotá
Check out the works of Rogelio Salmona throughout the city. He is probably one of the first architects that made me appreciate brick.
Pay attention to the TransMilenio. Many European and North American cities are beginning to use it as a model for public transportation.
Botero Museum
Museo del Oro
Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá

And for the love of god, eat as many arepas y empanadas as you can.
