Laptop for work and home?

Hello Archi peeps

I have recently finished my architecture degree and now on the hunt for a decent laptop for both work and home. Living in NZ it is easy to get ripped off so just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I'm aware that there are other threads like this but there seems to be so many factors that are confusing me.

I will predominantly be using revit (not sure if I will end up doing any intense rendering but would be nice to have the option), photoshop, 3dsmax maybe archicad and would like to play the odd game but this as a secondary requirement as it will be a work laptop.

Not sure whether to go i5 or i7 for quad, ATI or NVIDIA or professional cards like nvidia quatro. These are really expensive and laptops with any of these are well over $4k nz to get decent specs

Lenovo thinkpad w510 (just under $4000 NZ$)

Intel Quad Core Processor i7-720QM (1.6GHz 1066MHz 6MBL3)
Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)
15.6" Full HD Anti-Glare display LED backlight and WWAN antenna
NVIDIA NVS 5100m Discrete Graphics 1GB DDR3 with Intel Advanced Management Technology
4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
320GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm

My price range is around $3000 NZ$ ($2100 US$)

So far I have looked at Sony f series ($3500 NZ$)
i7 740QM 1.73 - 2.93
8 Gig DDR3 ram
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M GPU with CUDA™ Technology 1 Gig
640 GB*3 (Serial ATA, 5400 rpm)

Asus G73jh ($3000ish NZ$)
i7 720QM
8 Gig DDR3 ram
Mobility Radeon HD 5870 1 Gig
2x500 gig HD 7200 rpm
so far this seems the best I can get for my money, the major drawback being that it looks like a stealth bomber, not very professional but I could get over that. and really bad battery life although I know not to expect anything great from desktop replacements.
