House M is a residential extension project where the client wanted a kitchen to be the central component of the house and to create a better connection to the basement for gardening and to accommodate evens with large number of guest that may expand out to the back yard. The site is at a slope that creates full 1 story high elevation difference: The front entry at the ground level is at the front yard level, and the rear entry is at the back yard level. That helped the stair facing down the garden to bring in northern day light through two story high glazing. The movements, views, and daylights were choreographed around the kitchen cabinets.
