Suzhou Urban Planning Bureau
This workshop was lead by Zhongjie Lin of Furturepolis. Michael Lovaglio was invited to Suzhou, China to manage a team of international architects and urban designers to develop a comprehensive strategy for the redevelopment of the Grand Canal waterfront of the Wuzhong District. The Waterfront of the Grand Canal in Wuzhong locates in the key district of downtown. Improving the quality of urban design in the district plays an important role in optimizing the culture and commercial value for the whole area. Downtown-transformation, promoting regional function transition, business prosperity, enhancing city image, and management of the project at a high level in this project will convey a new and attractive city image.
The total area of the project is 300 ha (including water area) and 4 kilometers long. The project begins in the north side of TaiHu Road and ends in the south side of Grand Canal; From the west, it spans from PanLi Road to WuDong Road in the east.
