AWI was initially contracted by Turner Construction to produce and coordinate a complete 3D BIM model for the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a LEED-Silver project designed by Grimshaw and Davis Brody Bond.

AWI also designed, fabricated and installed the "hull" from the finish wood surface back to the structural steel, including developing a custom tongue-and-groove profile for the wood cladding as well as the technique for manufacturing and installing the complex steel panels which provide support and fire-proofing for the exterior envelope.
