JUKTO: A RESIDENCE WITH THE STORY OF CONNECTION
The architect was inspired by the strength and beauty of the Bangla word JUKTO which means CONNECTED. The partly rustic façade of this multi-family building is adorned with engraved synonyms of the very word in Bengali. JUKTO in turn tells the story of connection by means of its surface expressing the philosophy behind the word. JUKTO reflects simplicity and serenity from the entrance of the building to all the diverse interior spaces. Inside, dynamic spaces and sequences of rooms are created, which invite the residents and visitors to experience, linger and enjoy. The spaces are designed to encourage and inspire the residents to celebrate their daily lives. This unpretentious residential building primarily made of cast-in-place-concrete, mild steel and glass resides harmoniously in an upper-class neighborhood of Gulshan, in the heart of Dhaka. JUKTO is not just an inanimate building, it tells stories through every surface of its being.
