williamsburg townhouse

Nestled in the heart of Williamsburg on a small lot along Metropolitan Avenue, this two-family townhouse exemplifies efficient use of space with its clean, simple, and luminous interiors, all sheltered behind a dark pre-patinated zinc curtain. The design, which features a triplex over duplex configuration inspired by traditional New York townhouses, provides separate private street entrances for each family.

The neighborhood's industrial history influences this residence's exterior, exemplified by its patinated, standing seam zinc cladding. The pleated front facade provides privacy and acoustic separation from the street noise while projecting outwards over the sidewalk to showcase full-height glass windows in the living room and bedrooms, offering views of the Manhattan skyline.

In contrast, the south facade features a variety of oversized glass windows and juliette balconies, which flood the interiors with natural daylight and overlook the terraced rear garden and patio below. The open interior stairs, which slice through the core of each floor, create a sense of spaciousness and fluidity. The stairs navigate past the sprawling open kitchen, between the upper bedrooms, and beyond the master suite to a rooftop deck and jacuzzi with sweeping views of Manhattan.
