Located in Mehrauli, Delhi, Reeti Arneja is a designer boutique for well-tailored women's apparels. The design of the boutique is a post Modern montage of the royal Mughal era and the vibe of the youth of contemporary India. The concept of the project was to re-establish the magic of the bygone Mughal era with the designer apparels and thus the usage of Mughal elements of architecture can be seen in abundance but with a subtle and less dramatic twist. The project incorporates elements of domes, arches combined with simple clean lines and symmetry through every plane, maximising height effectively and to grasp the goodness of the natural beauty brought in by the different seasons. Natural daylight and earthy hues are two major design elements that are followed throughout, also a very clever use of geometry can be seen with perfectly placed windows, chunky light reflecting mirrors and semi-circular arches. The dome frame is made from mild steel and polycarbonate sheet so as to give the dome its perfect shape.The translucent effect through the dome gives a perfect view of the abstract tree leaves and is the source for natural light, the space is so well lit that it gives the user a very inside outside feel. The mirror plays a very important role in the space. Antique mirror with brass silicon backing has been placed strategically on the back wall to reflect and add depth to the space; the arches have a reflection in the mirror which multiplies the intensity of the whole corridor concept. This makes the space look much bigger and also the reflecting arches lead to the concept of a corridor.
