The original structure was a cobbled together house on the St Croix River, with all the inconvenience but none of the charm of a country retreat.
Instead of the typical response to add on, Sarah Nettleton approached this project by shrinking this large house into a cabin. Indulging the cabin aspects, we remodeled the 1960’s suburban parts into a rural retreat with a trussed great room and screen porch. In our design addressing both the house and landscape, we cleared the exotic invasives, such as Buckthorne, and restored the house’s river view.
