KMA's design process can be described as a creative analytical process based on research and understanding of the constraints and opportunities affecting any specific project.
Within this framework multiple dimensions of a project can be addressed simultaneously and continuously using a variety of traditional and non-traditional tools and methodologies. Designs are developed and tested through the use of familiar architectural tools such as images, drawings and sketches, as well as 3D digital modeling, spreadsheet analysis, engineering analyses such as energy modeling, daylighting and sun shadow studies, preliminary LEED certification worksheets, physical modeling, conceptual financial and cost modeling, and project team meetings.
In addition to our passion for building design, KMA applies our knowledge of codes and construction processes to assist our clients in evaluating and maximizing their projects. We assist individual and large organizations with assessing land acquisitions, determining optimum project size, best use for a site, projecting project costs, and determining proposed feasibility prior to making significant investments.
KMA is a design-process oriented firm. We have a strong history of doing Government work which has taught us how to approach a design challenge in the most efficient way to maximize the return on investment. This history has translated nicely into being able to walk client's through exploring their project's true potential that can be realized and not just conceived of. We require clients or client representatives to be involved in the design process so that they are best informed and feel true ownership of the project with us. We will always do some government work for sharpening those skills but our focus now is to bring design to private projects for commercial and retail property owners and tenants looking for improvement and new ideas.
