Michael J. McCall, AIA, founded McCall Design Group in 1989. Under his leadership, the firm has grown from a small, two-person company to its current forty person staff. As participants in the marketplace of fashion, seriality, temporality, and transience, McCall Design Group views architecture as the context for everyday life. The firm views design as an unfolding of visual, technical, and programmatic concerns that evolve over time and through adaptation to place. Working individually with each client, Mr. McCall oversees the creation of unique spaces that speak to and enlighten the locations they occupy.
Mr. McCall has over 23 years of experience in exemplary architectural design, encompassing flagship projects with national and international retail and hospitality giants such as Limited Brands, Inc., Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc., Gap, Inc., and Williams-Sonoma, Inc., as well as smaller, specialized prototype stores and boutiques for clients such as Kate Spade, Gazoontite, Gymboree, and cultural institutions such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and The San Francisco Symphony.
