The Architecture Studio Jofre Roca Taller d’Arquitectura, was founded in 2007 with the aim of fitting a genuine project discourse into architectural practice, with a design process full of subtleties. The ability to incorporate multiple disciplines and the finesse in dealing with the complexity of a project make it possible to create a lightful architecture rich in nuances.
Rigour and constant search for value and identity enrich all the studio’s work, both on a small and large scale. Taller’s architectural projects combine architecture, urban and landscape design, taking into consideration the environment’s conditions and its historical, cultural, social and material context at all times. The programmatic requirements are very diverse, ranging from residences to corporate offices, select retail boutiques to inspirational housing. Constantly client-centered, the Taller studio offers the best professional advice at every stage of the process.
The design process of Taller Jofre Roca incorporates the particularities of the client’s commission from a global perspective, ensuring a consistent project that includes all the details thanks to a synthesis and abstraction work that allows the essential to stand out. Thisway, the result achieves a great naturalness and blends perfectly in the territory.
The implementation of design measures as well as active and passive strategies in relation to the use of natural resources and energy efficiency, together with a profound knowledge of the properties of materials, how they feel to the touch and the reflection of light, all combined with the most honest construction techniques, result in a constructed reality that is sensitive and respectful of the environment and in the creation of meaningful spaces capable of accessing the innermost and most subtle part of people: their emotions.
Jofre Roca Calaf studied architecture in the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, trained at the Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan University in Stockholm and holds a Master of Advanced Studies. He currently teaches architectural projects at the ETSAB Barcelona School of Architecture (UPC). As founder of the Taller d’Arquitectura, he nurtures his creative team and drives them in the resolution of commissions. His connection with the academic world anchors the proposals in the current state of the profession and encourages the search for the fundamental values of architecture, providing meaning to his proposals. His colleagues and partners share the exact same vision.
