Our Story

Studio Vural was founded in 2009 by Selim Vural, AIA,  a Turkish architect with a BArch degree from Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul and an MArch degree from Pratt Institute in New York.

While working for his family architecture firm, Selim spent four years studying masterpieces of Byzantine and Ottoman architecture in Istanbul.  During his Istanbul years, he learned much about his craft from his father Oral Vural and his professor Cengiz Eren.

In 1993, Selim moved to New York to pursue further education in arts and architecture. Following his MArch degree, he obtained 12 years of experience in prominent firms such as Eisenman Architects, Skidmore Owings and Merrill and Swanke Hayden Connell, leading to Studio Vural's foundation in 2008.

In addition to his practice, Selim has served as a professor teaching architectural studio classes at the University of Arkansas, Pratt Institute,  New York Institute of Technology and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
