This project aimed to renovate a well know social interest building type in Caracas which is know for its poor design, unlivable common spaces, "matchbox" like apartments and complete disregard for location, orientation in reference to the sun and subjective poor aesthetic concern.
In this project, I tried to make every apartment bigger by downsizing the amount of tenants in half. By merging two apartments I was able to give each one a balcony, bigger common spaces and bathrooms as well as amplify and improve common areas of the building.
In the ground and first floor, I dedicated areas for shops and restaurants as to give ethe community spaces to meet and also jobs and commercial opportunities. To end, I decided to create a facade that would aim mainly as a shader between the building main facade and the inclement sun. The main facade of the buildings, are located east-west so every apartment was, according to the actual tenants "an oven"
