Aditi developed from an Art Center Design Matters sponsored project. The prompt was to design furniture for the fast growing low income housing sector of India. The project included a 10 day trip to Bangalore India, where ethnographic research was conducted. We were able to interview first time homeowners, families who still lived in the slums, and furniture manufactures.

Families transitioning from the slums into low income housing developments are making a large change into a global society and deserve the right to have access to well designed furniture. Furniture that will now become a symbol to the community of their move up the social ladder, a proud accomplishment!
