Chong Pang City

Chong Pang City is an inclusive civic centre designed to foster community bonding and offer a wide range of facilities for its residents. The design concept is centred around expanding public space, with the building serving as a vertical extension of the ground.

Each floor is designed to resemble a small neighbourhood cluster, with a human scale and ample circulation areas. The shape of each floor is tailored to its function, resulting in an engaging and dynamic massing.

The building’s architecture is simple and understated; its expression is given by large floor slabs providing shading and green spaces. The building envelope areas are set back and provided only where necessary for air conditioning or fire compartmentation, resulting in a very porous façade that allows light and breeze to penetrate the interiors. The aim is to create an unpretentious, open, and lushly green building that embodies the essence of public architecture and community values.
